When did you join IMET?

I started with IMET in January 2012, so I have been with the company since the first full year of operation.

Before that, I was lead sorter at Caledonian Alloys. I worked there from around 2005-6.

What do you do here at IMET? What is your main responsibility?

Primarily, making sure operations is performing on a daily basis. That we are not only producing at high level, but doing it with safety being the top priority, and with a focus constantly on quality. Quality is what our business is built on and we strive to be the very best every day. I assist in a few other areas when needed, filling smaller roles.

What do you need to be good at to do your job well? What particular skills and knowledge do you have?

Experience is everything; you can’t pick up a book and gain the necessary skills you need to thrive in this industry. I have been very fortunate to work for some of the industry’s best, who have been open to helping me learn and grow my skills in this business.

What problems do you need to overcome as part of your work?

Working with everybody and having to perform under pressure. Commercial is out there selling the company and making promises and as operations we have to meet those promises

How do you know when your work has gone well?

When operations can deliver a quality product on time, and at the end of the day everybody goes home safe; safety is most important.

What do you enjoy most about your job and working in this industry?

I really enjoy the people I work with, we have a great team.

As far as the industry, its constantly changing and you must keep up with the evolving industry demands, it presents a challenge that I like.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have a wife and two young children, anytime I have outside of work is devoted to them.
